The process....

Preparing for a mission is no easy task.  There is of course the years of preparation before hand but once that call comes there is a lot of work to be done!  Most of the training is done online before a foot is set in the MTC.  Over 13 hours of training had to be completed online before in addition to the regular study.  Kaleb also signed up for an institute class even though he would leave in the middle of the semester:). Then, there is all the packing.  Figuring out what to buy that will fit in two suitcases for two years is no easy task.  Add in the fact that they have to weigh no more than 50 pounds and pretty much everything on Kaleb's list looked like it belonged on a long-term camping trip!  I researched and researched and researched before making a purchase and then thank goodness for Amazon!  His requirements for immunizations and for getting his visa were astonishing both time and cost wise.  Since it was decided that the timing was right for me to the RS president and the ward was split my time was so short to try and get everything arranged and try and find all of the items we needed.  A trip to the outlets was helpful and finally my hyper organization paid off!

Called to Serve

After a long wait (almost 12 weeks) the call finally came while Kaleb was up at Papa and Grandma's house, just as we predicted it would.
It sat on the hearth for a day unopened until an impromptu trip brought me and the call to Papa and Grandma's house for a surprise.  My Mom picked me up at the airport and I hid in the room for the night.  The next morning at breakfast, I came up behind Kaleb,  covered his eyes and said surprise!  Then I handed him the envelope.  He was so excited!!!!  It may have been one of the few times I have been able to genuinely surprise him.  I can't believe I flew all the way there with this news......It changed our lives forever.
